A series of vocal workshops at Tate Modern, with artist Mikhail Karikis, my long-term collaborator in Neo Futurist Collective. Mikhail investigates the voice as a sculptural object and wanted my expertise of the futurist manifestos to lead a group in creating a neofuturist choir. We performed the final piece in a guerrilla intervention in front of a startled, and sometimes, delighted public. I have to say, it was the most liberating piece of work I think I’ve ever done – responding to the iconic Futurist collection installed in a carefully curated retrospective at Tate, with a megaphone and a crowd of willing volunteers. I’m sure Marinetti, Russolo et al would have loved it!
