Made in China research funding award

I am delighted to announce that I have just received an Artists International Development Fund award from Arts Council England and the British Council to travel to China later in the year to research my planned project with ceramist Kay Aplin ‘Made In China’  –  a cultural dialogue in ceramics and sound. I have been invited to visit several sound art residencies to give performances and talks, and will visit significant areas of ceramic production in Guangzhou, Jingdezhen and Foshan to capture the sound worlds of ancient craft practices and industrial ceramic production.

I am also planning to visit the studios of FM3 the makers of the world-famous Buddha Machine loop player to discuss a collaboration with them for 2019.

Thanks to our British based producer Chen Zhuo of Zen Arts for making the connections that made this happen.
