The current crisis forces us all to be creative. When my concert in The Orangery at Killruddery in Bray, Ireland was postponed we decided instead to film the performance in the garden of The Ceramic House in Brighton where I am currently isolated. All of the sounds you will hear have been recorded in and around the Killruddery estate and feature members of the Brabazon family telling stories related to the archive.

These sounds are performed live using my custom made Sonic Baton instrument (a modified conductor’s baton connected to a laptop), accompanied by a haunting musical underscore to create a unique experience for the digital realm.

The resulting film is now available to watch on the Killruddery YouTube channel from 4pm BST today.

The work is part of a practice-based PhD “Killruddery: Listening to the archive” with SMARTlab UCD, Inclusive Design Research Centre Ireland, funded by an Enterprise Partnership Award from the Irish Research Council in partnership with Killruddery Arts, Culture, Ecology & Heritage.
