Beyond the Studio is a celebration of artists and makers at Phoenix – a group exhibition featuring 80 of the studio artists. The title centres the studios and artists here and also recognises that what is created here, what is created in this building goes out into the world beyond through exhibitions, teaching, community outreach and so much more.
Join us for the preview on 10th July, 6 – 8pm
I will be showing a new suite of short films created with film maker Tim Newton (featuring text by Rowena Easton), based on my six movement noise opera The Ballad of Skinny Lattes & Vintage Clothing, originally created as a site-specific performance installation at the iconic Brutalist masterpiece, Trellick Tower, London in partnership with my creative producers O’Neill Ross (2013).
The six films mirror the stages of the installation, using archival clips, vintage wire frame animation and original footage, accompanied by the sounds from the original work. The films explore the link between artists, gentrification, disinformation, social upheaval, and financial collapse.
