Selected for the French Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2023

My sound piece The Destruction of Language (after Le Madame), originally created in 2008  and re-edited in 2023, has been selected as part of a programme of  international sound works responding to the theme of Radio Utopia, News from the World in the French Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale from August 1-5th. The work features the voices of poets Deborah Levy, Mine Kaylan and Patricia Hope Scanlan in conversation on the continuing importance of feminism, inspired by the work of artist Louise Bourgeois. Their recorded voices have been processed through cut-up and reduction, with repeated phrases, syllables and rhythmic cadences stretching across the stereo field.

During the week, the Ball Theatre will be transformed́ into a veritable radio studio open to the public.
